Things to Know Before Installing Link Classifier

Link Classifier is a web based script that you will need to install on your own web server. This means you will need:

• A Web hosting account and access to your web server (via FTP)
• A FTP client. I recommend the free FileZilla client.

Installation Process

1. Download your copy of Link Classifier.
2. Unzip the downloaded file to your hard drive.
3. Upload the Link Classifier files to a location on your webserver:
   • If you want to install Link Classifier to the root of your domain (e.g. http://sitename.com), upload the contents of the unzipped Link Classifier directory (but excluding the directory itself) into the root directory of your domain (e.g. public_html/sitename.com)
   • If you want to install Link Classifier into its own subdirectory on your site (e.g. http://sitename.com/linkclassifier), create the linkclassifier directory on your server and upload to that directory via FTP.

That's it! You can now access Link Classifier through your web browser by visiting the domain you installed it to.

FAQ

1. Help! When I hit the classify links button it doesn't do anything!

   With some web hosts (like Hostgator), the mod_security settings of the server will prevent the script from working properly. Just send a support ticket to your web host saying you would like them to "whitelist your domain for mod_security". The domain being the location where you installed the Link Classifier script.
